Pre test Information : No Special Preparation Needed
Between the eleventh and fourteenth weeks of pregnancy, a USG (Ultrasound) Level 1 Nuchal Translucency (NT) scan is performed. This examination assesses the thickness of the nuchal fold, a region of tissue at the back of the neck of an unborn child. This thickness is measured in order to assess your fetus's potential for Down syndrome and genetic abnormalities. The measurement of nuchal translucency, your age, and the gestational age of your unborn child all affect your likelihood of having a chromosomal issue.
The nuchal fold is thicker when there is more fluid than usual in the back of the neck, which raises the likelihood of the foetus having genetic problems. If this test's results are abnormal, a confirmatory test like an amniocentesis can be performed.
