Pre test Information : No Special Preparation Needed
To see internal organs, an abdominal ultrasound is performed. It is the ideal screening technique for abdominal aortic aneurysms, which are weakening, bulging areas of the abdominal aorta, the main blood conduit supplying the body with blood. The imaging test, however, can be used to identify or rule out a variety of different medical issues.
Men aged 65 to 75 who smoke cigarettes now or in the past are advised to have an abdomen ultrasound to check for an abdominal aortic aneurysm. For men (and women) who have never smoked, abdominal aortic aneurysm screening isn't advised unless your doctor feels you may have an aneurysm or if there is a family history of aneurysms.
Reasons behind it
Many of the organs in your belly can be seen by your doctor using an abdominal ultrasound. If you experience a problem in any of the following body regions, your doctor might advise this test:
- abdomen-related blood vessels
- Gallbladder
- Intestines
- Kidneys
- Liver
- Pancreas
- Spleen
Your doctor may use an abdominal ultrasound to determine what is causing your bloating or stomach pain. It can aid in the examination of numerous illnesses, including malignancies, liver disease, and kidney stones.
