Why is the Test Done?
This examination could be carried out to help identify the root cause of a high blood uric acid level. Additionally, it may be used to monitor gout sufferers and determine the optimum medication to minimize blood uric acid levels.
As the body breaks down purine-containing compounds, uric acid is produced. The majority of uric acid is dissolved in the blood and moves to the kidneys, where it is excreted in urine. You could become ill if your body creates too much uric acid or does not remove enough of it. Hyperuricemia, or a high quantity of uric acid in the body, can cause gout or damage to the kidneys.
This test may also be used to determine whether kidney stones are being caused by excessive uric acid in the urine.
