Free Thyroid Function Test
Pre test Information : No Special Preparation Needed
Thyroid dysfunction can be detected using assays that detect unbound or free thyroid hormones. They reflect the hormone's active form, which is unaffected by non-thyroidal factors. TSH alone as a screening test may be misleading, so simultaneous measurement of free T3 and T4 is critical. TSH should not be used as a stand-alone laboratory test to evaluate thyroid function, particularly in patients with suspected or known pituitary disease.
