Pre test Information : No Special Preparation Needed
The amount of rheumatoid factor (RF) in your blood is measured by a rheumatoid factor (RF) test. Rheumatoid factors are proteins that the immune system produces. Normally, the immune system attacks pathogens such as viruses and bacteria. Rheumatoid factors mistakenly attack healthy joints, glands, or other normal cells.
An RF test is most commonly used to aid in the diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis. Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disorder that causes joint pain, swelling, and stiffness. Rheumatoid factors may also indicate the presence of other autoimmune disorders, such as juvenile arthritis, certain infections, and certain types of cancer.
