The TORCH Profile Test is a group of tests performed on pregnant women to detect the presence of specific infections or to screen newborns for infections caused by Toxoplasma(T), Rubella(R), Cytomegalovirus(C), and Herpes Simplex (H) virus. These tests look for IgG and IgM antibodies, which are produced by the body in response to these infections.
Why are the TORCH Profile IgG & IgM 10 Parameters performed?
The TORCH Profile Test is carried out as follows:
- To detect and assist in the diagnosis of a TORCH group pathogen infection in a pregnant woman (usually in the first trimester) or in a woman planning pregnancy.
- To screen a woman for infections in the event of a recurrent miscarriage
- In order to screen a newborn for infections,
