Pre test Information : No Special Preparation Needed
If you have a lung condition like tuberculosis, your doctor may do an acid-fast bacteria (AFB) stain test to determine this (TB). An AFB stain can reveal additional mycobacterial infections like leprosy or a disease similar to TB that can affect persons with HIV/AIDS in addition to tuberculosis.
A particular kind of bacteria called mycobacteria can be found in soil and water. Although they are mostly innocuous, if they get into your body, they can lead to a variety of difficulties, such as lung problems, other infections, or skin sores.
A very small bit of tissue or a small amount of phlegm or sputum that you spit up are used in an acid-fast bacteria test. It can determine which of these groups the bacteria or fungus that is causing your sickness belongs to.
Acid-fast bacillus smear and culture, AFB smear and culture, TB culture and sensitivity, or mycobacterial culture are other names for this test.
