Rubella (IgG)
Pre test Information : No Special Preparation Needed
Most people are unaffected by rubella, also known as German measles or 3-day measles. It causes a mild fever and rash that subsides after a few days. Most children are immunised against it with the MMR (measles-mumps-rubella) or MMRV (chickenpox) vaccines.
When you're pregnant, however, rubella can be deadly. If you get it during the first four months, your baby may have vision, hearing, or heart problems, or he or she may be born too soon.
Who Will Take This Test?
- A pregnant or planning to become pregnant woman A newborn baby whose mother may have had rubella while pregnant
- A baby born with birth defects that may have been caused by rubella
- Anyone suffering from rubella symptoms
- Healthcare workers who have never had rubella or received the vaccine
- Beginning college students
