Electrocardiogram (ECG or EKG): This cardiology test captures the electrical activity of the heart.
Ambulatory ECG: These monitors heartbeats when a person engages in daily activities or physical activity. The chest is covered with tiny metal electrodes, which are wired to a Holter monitor that records the rhythms.
An exercise test, or stress test: An activity test, often known as a stress test, demonstrates how the heart's rhythm changes during exercise and during rest. It evaluates the heart's capabilities and limitations.
Echocardiogram: An echocardiogram is a test that uses ultrasound to produce an image of the heart's chambers and surrounding tissue. It can also reveal how well the heart is functioning.
The cardiac output, also known as blood flow rate, of the heart can be measured via echocardiography. It can identify pericarditis, an inflammation of the heart's pericardium. Additionally, it can detect infections or structural flaws in the heart valves.
Cardiac Catheterization: a tiny tube placed inside or close to the heart collects information and may help unclog a vein. It has the ability to take photos and examine the electrical and cardiovascular systems. Congenital cardiac, valvular, and coronary artery disorders can be treated with catheter-based methods and fluoroscopy.
Nuclear cardiology: nuclear imaging techniques are used in nuclear cardiology to noninvasively research illnesses and abnormalities of the cardiovascular system.
Examples include imaging of infarctions, myocardial perfusion, single-photon-emission computed tomography (SPECT), and planar imaging.
